Stile F enters "Dirk Diggler" in Gulf 12 Hours

A driver entered under the alias "Dirk Diggler" is set to take part in this weekend's Gulf 12 Hours at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.

The mystery driver is competing for Stile F Squadra Corse in the GT3 AM category, piloting a Ferrari 458 GT3 alongside Swiss racer Martin Grab and Jonathan Hui from China.

The alias is an homage to the fictional character Dirk Diggler, played by Mark Wahlberg, from Paul Thomas Anderson's 1997 film "Boogie Nights". The film, set in 1970s California, portrays Diggler's rise and fall in the pornographic film industry.

The Stile F website lists Dirk Mueller (properly spelled Müller) as a driver coach, though it's unlikely that Müller is racing under the Diggler alias. Müller's Platinum racing license precludes his participation in the GT3 AM category, in which only Bronze or Silver-rated drivers are allowed to compete.

The driver's true identity has yet to be revealed, but the San Marino-based team appears committed to the character — their car will race with the number 69.

The Gulf 12 Hours will be held on 15 December and comprises two six-hour races.
